Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum (Khonkaen Province)

is a geological museum mainly exhibiting fossils. Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum situated in the Khok Sanambin public area in Tambon Nai Muang, Wiang Kao district, Khon Kaen province in the northeastern region of Thailand.

Old Shell Fossil Museum 150 Millian Years

The museum features fossils of shells from the Jurassic period, dating to 140-150 million years ago. In the nearby area, 60 dinosaur fossils can be seen in the layer of siltstone, above the layer where the fossils of shells and ancient crocodiles are found.

First Dinosaur Discovery
Department of Mineral Resources was at Phu Pratu Teema in the Phu Wiang Nation Park, Wiang Kao district, Khon Kaen province in 1976 Sutham Yaemniyom a geologist of the Department while conducting a uranium exploration.
The bone, shown below, is a detail part of femur of a giant sauropod dinosaur aged Early Cretaceous. After the first discovery.Vertebrae paleontological expeditions in cooperation between the Department of Mineral Resources and french paleontologists had progressed. The Investigations had reported many discoveries the dinosaurs and contemporaneous animals from Mesozoic rocks in northeastern Thailand.
